The festival officially begins at 6 A.M. at the Pregon de la Fiesta on Fiesta Friday. The faithful of Santa Fe gather to complete the promise made by Governor Don Diego de Vargas in 1692 upon his arrival in Santa Fe with a procession retracing the footsteps of the conquistadors.
Enjoy the arts and crafts along with music, dancing, entertainment and food booths that line historic Santa Fe.
The Plaza Gazebo is transformed to a concert venue all weekend with historic dances by Pueblo Indians and Aztec dancers conveying the rich cultural heritage of New Mexico. Traditional northern New Mexico music and mariachi fill the air.
There's lots to do and see in Santa Fe. Here are just a few that might interest you:
Georgia O'Keefe Museum
New Mexico History Museum
San Miguel Mission (originally building in 1610 - referred to as the oldest church in the United States)

NOTE: Carpools will be set up as we may want to stop in Taos for lunch and visit The Pueblo.
If time is not an issue, there's also
Los Alamos Museum (details the Manhattan Project where the world's first atomic weapons were designed and produced)
