The famous Manitou Incline is an old funicular (cable) railroad track that has been repurposed as a hiking challenge. It is less than a mile in length. Only .88 of a mile. But it is steep. 2,768 steps. 2,000 foot ascent. Most people who attempt it, are delighted to complete it. If you've done it before or if you have simply been curious, now is your chance to try it with a fun, encouraging and mutually supportive group. And don't worry if you're unsure but curious, there are 2 bail out points on the incline. And that's ok! Everyone has their own challenge level...... We are not in a race or competition.... Once completed, the way back down is via a normal hiking trail, not the steps. We will carpool there and after we will celebrate our personal accomplishment by going to a Restaurant in Manitou. (Probably Nepalese -Indian, because, you know, the Himalayas are next!) For conditioning, If there's interest, I will schedule 2 days where we will go to the Castle Rock Challenge Hill. And we will do a few up downs to get conditioned and get in the right frame of mind. The Castle Rock training Hill is about 1/11th Manitou. This is totally optional.
